Keep yourself in the game

Allah jalla wa ‘alā commands us to two things: firstly, to do the obligatory matters, and secondly to not do the prohibited matters.

Yet the first is more important than the second. That’s why Iblīs when he failed in the first (to DO the Sajdah) he was not forgiven. And when Ādam (‘alayhis-salām) failed in the second (to NOT eat from the Tree) he was forgiven.

That’s why even if you are a sinner, you’ve ALWAYS got a chance as long as you keep performing your obligations. Keep up your Ṣalāh, Ṣadaqah, good family relations, voluntary work etc. Don’t ever despair from the Mercy of Allah. Don’t let Shayṭān put you off as he whispers to you “Hypocrite! Hypocrite!” He just can’t get over the fact that even though you sin – and repeatedly so unfortunately – you’re still better than he is because you will still do as much as you can from the obligations.

Keep yourself in the game. Keep up your ‘ibādah despite your bad moments, even if those bad moments are most of your moments. In shā Allāh things will fix up for you soon as long as you keep on “doing”! (via Abu Eesa)
